Mother Nature Movement
Co-Founder
Mr. San Mala, 25, is co-founder of the Mother Nature Movement, a group working closely with local people to protect natural resources from the Government's unsustainable development projects, which impact the environment and local people 's livelihoods.

As an environmental activist, San Mala was arrested for one night in September 2014 with 10 other colleagues during the Save Areng Valley campaign, a campaign that tried to rescue a beautiful place with 20,000 ha forest from the Hydropower project.

On 17 August 2015, San Mala and two other environmentalists were arrested again and sent to the jail after his environmental activist team and local people protested again the sand mining in Botum Sakor district, Koh Kong Province, west of the country.

Mala was jailed for 10 months and 15 days and was released on 1st July 2016. Now Mala is working for Not1More and he still continues his mission to save the natural resources in Cambodia even though he was threatened many times by the Cambodian courts.
