Founder of “Hay Mujeres”, which emerged as a virtual platform and today is a foundation that promotes the visibility of women through their voice and opinion as a dimension of their leadership. Hay Mujeres works primarily, but not only, with the media in order to promote their equal presence in spaces and debates where public opinion is built. Professor lecturer of the University of Talca, (Chile), attached to the School of Political and Administrative Sciences, Faculty of Legal and Social Sciences, Santiago campus, María de los Ángeles Fernández Ramil also served as the Head of the Gender Unit in the General Secretariat of the Presidency.

Focus of the presentation: 
As an academic and activist having served as the head of the gender unit in the Government of Chile, María de los Ángeles Fernández Ramil could focus on the potential of women to influence the policy debate, including the anti-corruption agenda, and making policy-relevant recommendations for promoting women participation in politics and how to overcome the challenges that they face to access political power and to influence the political agenda
