Svendsen is the author of 110 peer-reviewed articles in leading international journals on mainly political economy, social capital and collective action problems. He received the award for Best 2007 Article in the Journal of Comparative Policy Analysis. Furthermore, he has written 13 books, 16 book chapters (12 peer-reviewed), 10 articles (without peer-review) and 10 scientific reports. In total: 159 scientific publications. His main research interests are collective action problems, social capital, trust, corruption, welfare states, lobbying and climate policy. Present research network within corruption and social trust is extensive as e.g. reflected in the list of contributors to the Handbook of Social Capital (2009). Svendsen has substantial experience in supervising PhD students and has been chairman and member of several PhD committees. He has organized conferences and workshops, been invited speaker at numerous occasions and is a regular contributor to media and public debate.
