Bubacarr Sankareh is the Acting Director of the Office of Integrity and Anti-corruption (PIAC) of the African Development Bank (AfDB). Within the AfDB, PIAC has the overriding mandate to conduct independent investigations into allegations of sanctionable practices in AfDB-financed activities and staff misconduct cases. Mr Sankareh is a fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (FCCA) of the United Kingdom and he holds an MBA from the University of Oxford. Prior to his current position in the AfDB, he headed the Investigations Division within PIAC for 4 years and led complex investigations involving multinational companies in AfDB financed projects in Regional Member Countries under the Bank’s sanctions regime. He was Auditor General of The Gambia heading the National Audit Office for 12.5 years with independent reporting responsibilities on the public accounts of The Gambia to Parliament. A strong champion for accountability, effective public finance oversight and anti-corruption efforts, he was a key contributor to the revival of the African Organisation of Supreme Audit Institutions (AFROSAI) between 2005 and 2011 and the establishment of AFROSAI-E in 2005.
