Former Director of the Gender Development Research and Studies Centre (GDRSC)
Bilkis was until recently, the Director of the Gender Development Research and Studies Centre, (GDRSC), Sana’a University - a position she occupied since late 2011. The Centre, beyond aiming to strengthen its capacity, works to relate its vision to the civil society in the context of reaching gender equality. She coordinates a master’s program in International Development and Gender to graduate creative development professionals. In her lectures and researches she supervises, she tries to link gender issues with natural resources and development, as she coordinates a master program in Integrated Water Resources Management since 2005 at the Water and Environment Centre. In the latter, she holds lectures in ‘Water chemistry’ and ‘Gender and Water’. She also worked in consultancy projects related to water and gender issues in Yemen for the World Bank, GIZ, IUCN and others. Bilkis Zabara holds a PhD in Physical Chemistry from Sana’a University since 2004 while teaching at the Faculty of Science since 1990.
